Spring Time and Clay Time

A few colorful clay houses to go along with the Spring Bloom photos from last week.  Spring came early this year. The weather has been warm for awhile so the azaleas and dogwoods already started blooming. I took a drive around some neighborhoods with pretty blooms.  I just wish some of these were in my yard!

I have Spring Fever...

...and I've got the sinus headaches to prove it! I think the changing weather has been part of that problem. I guess you could say that I've been recharging my batteries this past week. I've been very tired after being at school all day and not had a lot of energy to do much artwork of my own. We started working with clay at school this week, so I'm looking forward to working on some new ideas for projects out of clay. I've been working on a few little sketches to get some ideas for those. I hope to put some new clay items in my Etsy shop in the next few weeks!

Also, I want to get out and take some photos with my new camera to capture the pretty spring flowers out in the neighborhood. I've posted a photo of the dogwood tree in my backyard. Its blooms are opening up. As usual I have lots of ideas, but no time or energy to complete anything. I'm looking forward to summer break, when I plan to be very busy in my studio! I'm looking forward to warmer weather too. I've had enough of the warm one day, cold the next day weather! Bring on the warm days and nights!

Have a beautiful day!

Spring Doodle

This time last week we had 14 inches of snow, yesterday we had temperatures in the 70s! Arkansas weather! Gotta love it! Its been a busy week at school and after school so I haven't started the portraits that are on my drawing table. I did do a little doodle at work this week. I like to have something to draw or paint on when I get a few minutes here and there when my students are working diligently. I have spring flowers on my mind, so here is the doodle that I started. I used a black micron pen to draw the flower designs. I started adding some color with colored pencils last night. I will be adding more color as time permits, so I will post an update as I go. But I plan to start a portrait first. I have so many projects to do, and so little time! I can't wait until spring break in 2 weeks!

Spring Weather is Finally Here!

Dogwood Blooms
I've been a little distracted from my art lately. With the end of school year coming fast, my son's high school graduation, and several other things I won't bore anyone with, my mind just can't settle down enough to sit down at my drawing table. So I've been doing some spring cleaning, since it has finally arrived.

I live in the South, so usually we have an early spring. We've had so much rain and cool weather this year, I was beginning to wonder if we would skip spring weather and go directly to summer weather. But the last several days have been very nice spring weather. The dogwood trees started blooming last week and are still very pretty. Here are some pictures of the one in my backyard. I would love to have more dogwoods, but my yard has very little shade, so they would burn up anywhere else. I will try to take a walk around the neighborhood tomorrow to get some more spring flower pictures. I need the exercise too!
