February Love for the week.   Most people who have a dog, really love their dogs like a part of the family.  We love our two dogs and our two 'Grandogs'.  I've drawn, painted, and sculpted variations of dogs over the years.   Love your dog? Click here to order a custom portrait:

Watercolor and Ink and Inspiration

If you keep up this blog, you know that I like to use a variety of art materials.  I like that it never gets tiring or boring to me.  Maybe it means that I'm ADD?  Anyway, it can be a blessing or a curse.  Most of the time it is a blessing.  This year I started playing around with some pan watercolors to go along with my pen drawings.  I can also add dry colored pencils on top of that if I want!  So its all good.  Before I go into the studio to glaze more of my little clay houses, I thought I would share this little watercolor/pen sketch of my daughter and her dogs, that I created when I went to visit and dogsit for my daughter earlier this year.   Below is a photo of the 2 'granddogs' that were the inspiration for the card. It's hard to get them to pose together, so I took advantage of this shot.  While I was dogsitting for my daughter, I wanted to paint something and this is what I came up with.  Its was just a fun little quick whimsical painting.  I want to do more watercolor when I have time.

Dogs do the cutest things...

...and this one does his share. My daughter is home visiting with her 2 dogs this week. She came for the weekend, but it snowed and she ended up staying for a few more days. So last night I hear Radar, the Papillon, chirping (that is what I call his bark when he wants someone's attention). So my daughter went to investigate. She called me in there to see this...Radar perched on top of the basket of towels in the laundry room! Just sitting on top and looking at us, looking at him. No amount of coaxing would convince him to come down. I had time to go get the camera and take several pictures. I have no idea what he was doing or wanting from us. But he seemed very content.

And yes, that is his Razorback sweater. Isn't he cute?

Group Art Show Preparations

I have been working hard on my second piece for the upcoming show of the Memphis Chapter of the CPSA that will open next weekend! So I haven't had any time to write or do much of anything else. I am almost through with the 2nd piece now and will post a photo soon.
So I just thought I would post a little dose of cuteness! My daughter sent me these pictures of the 'granddogs'. She lives right in the middle of Razorback country. I think I need a photo of the dogs sitting in front of the tv with the razorback on. Don't you think? Too cute!

Custom Tile for Canadian

Here is a picture of the custom tile that I created for a lady in Canada. She wanted a tile and asked if I wanted to trade something from her shop, so I agreed. There was a painting in her shop that I liked, so she sent me photo of her 2 dogs. They were standing up on the railings of the porch of her house. She didn't give me any other instructions, so this is what I came up with. I have to say that I really enjoyed creating it, so now I listed in my Etsy store custom tiles. So maybe some others will order some custom tiles from me. I'm going to work on some other sample tiles to sell soon. It does take a couple of weeks for them to be finished. They have to dry slowly, get fired, then get glazed and fired again. So the whole process can take up to 2 to 3 weeks, depending how busy I am.
