Baseball Season Has Started

"The Baseball Team"

My son has played baseball since he was 5 years old. He is now 18 years old and about to graduate high school. He recently started his last season playing for the high school team. It's a little sad for me as a parent. It has been one of those activities that has determined our activities each summer because of the baseball schedule. We spent many spring and summer evenings at the ballpark for the last 13 years! So after this season, I don't expect that he will be involved with playing baseball anymore. But I'm looking forward to the future for him. So its not all sad.
The idea for this drawing of the baseballs came to me one summer while taking pictures of the boys team, and a pile of baseballs that were laying in the floor of my garage. Now this picture hangs in my sons bedroom. It will always be special to me.

  1. I love it! I know that picture will be your son's prized possession for life! Here's wishing you a great season filled with good times and more wonderful memories for your family. ENJOY!

We're baseball fans too ~ however we're fans in our comfy recliners at home. Hubby's from St Louis and that makes us Cardinal fans.

  2. This piece does remind me of summer baseball games. Ah, the rites of boyhood into manhood. You may be leaving the baseball behind, but there will be new memories to create.

Thanks Cindy. I'm looking forward to new memories! I know our lives will be changing drastically with both kids out of the house! I will have some adjusting to do.

  4. Beth,

Thank you so much for the answer :D
My fiance is in the process of building me a "graphics" computer, so that I can hook it to my LCD monitor, and I already own photoshop, so hopefully along with said computer I'll be able to get a good scanner and maybe a camera.

Also, thanks for the comment on what to do as a career. It's only my freshman year, but I'd rather make the decision now while I have time, so that I can start prioritizing my studies as I go. Art Education ....sounds like a great career! I'll definitely give it some thought.

  5. Hi, Beth,
I'm really enjoying your work. I wasn't able to find direct contact information through this blog, so I've sent a message to you through mySpace about using one of your images on my NLC blog.

If it doesn't make it through, please drop me a line at rhm@red-hot-mama.com (I know it sounds bad, but it really is all baseball).

    Thanks so much,
    Amanda Cross

  6. Hi Beth,

I really enjoy your site and will definitely continue to visit your beautiful treasures.

I feel so silly right now but I just have to ask someone before I completely go "NUTS"!

So, here goes... I'm not sure if you recall but it's been over 9 years since I took a drawing class and the same amount of time since I've picked up pencils ~ Now here goes the questions...

    1. How do you sign your work so neatly? Do you use a special pencil to sign?

    2. After the piece is finished, is there anything you apply over the top of your work to preserve it?

Thank you for the link Amanda.

    Fannie, thank you.

Hi Debbie. Thanks for visiting. I don't mind answering questions at all! Those are good questions and I think I will write a post to answer those questions, ok? It might take more than a line or two...so check back later ok? Thanks again for coming back to look.
